Hi, I’m Mercedes Viera. The Founder of Rebeldía.
Mercedes’ days as a young writer started when she created countless blogs, topics ranging from mental health to book reviews. Since then, her articles have been published in Merodea, Rutgers’ HerCampus and The Daily Targum. Mercedes was also the creative mind behind Femme Now, an online magazine that focused on local entrepreneurship, fashion and art in Puerto Rico. Thanks to Femme Now, she won the 2017 Girlboss Game Changer Award and was granted attendance the Girlboss Rally in NYC.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she studied film production for two years in the Universidad of Sagrado Corazón. Now, Mercedes lives in the New York Metropolitan Area and majors in Journalism and Media Studies in the School of Communications and Information at Rutgers University. She hopes to combine her creative film vision with her passion for writing in Rebeldía.
